According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1 PM today (October 20), the center of the tropical depression is located at approximately 20.8 degrees North latitude and 109.5 degrees East longitude, over the northeastern waters of the North Gulf of Tonkin. The strongest winds near the center of the tropical depression are at level 7 (50-61 km/h), with gusts reaching level 9. It is moving in a south-southwest direction at a speed of about 10 km/h.

Forecast until 1 PM on October 21, the tropical depression will continue moving southwest, located at approximately 19.1 degrees North latitude and 107.9 degrees East longitude in the southern area of the North Gulf of Tonkin, with a movement speed of about 10 km/h, gradually weakening into an area of low pressure.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression combined with enhanced cold air, the Gulf of Tonkin (including Co To and Bach Long Vi Islands) will experience strong winds of levels 6-7, and rough seas.
The waters of the Gulf of Tonkin (including Co To and Bach Long Vi Islands) will see wave heights of 2.0-3.0 meters. All boats, anchorage areas, and aquaculture zones in this region will be affected by strong winds and high waves.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting warns that in the northern Gulf of Tonkin on October 20, there will be rain and storms; on the night of October 20, there will be showers and thunderstorms. Throughout the day and night of October 20, the western sea area of the North East Sea (including the waters of the Paracel Islands) will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms.
On the night of October 20, the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai, and from Ca Mau to Kien Giang, the Gulf of Thailand, and the southern area of the East Sea (including the waters of the Spratly Islands) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of winds reaching levels 7-8.
On October 21, during the day and night, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience northeast winds of levels 6, with gusts of level 8, rough seas, and wave heights of 2.0-3.0 meters; the northern part of the North East Sea will have northeast winds of levels 6, occasionally reaching level 7, with gusts of level 9, very rough seas, and wave heights of 2.0-4.0 meters; the sea area from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai will have northeast winds of levels 5, occasionally reaching level 6, with gusts of level 7-8, rough seas, and wave heights of 2.0-3.0 meters.
The risk level for natural disasters due to strong winds at sea is rated at level 3. All vessels and other activities in these sea areas are at high risk of being affected by strong winds and large waves.
