Carrying over 3,000 passengers, the ship departed from Wusongkou International Port in Shanghai, with plans to visit destinations in Northeast Asia, including Nagasaki and Fukuoka in Japan, as well as Jeju Island in South Korea, before returning on January 7th, according to CGTN. The itinerary is expected to expand in the future to include more options, such as Southeast Asia.

The construction of mega cruise ships like the Adora Magic City represents a significant advancement in China’s shipbuilding capabilities, according to Chen Gang, the general director of SWS. Following eight years of scientific research and five years of design and construction, the ship was delivered in November last year. This model features numerous functional areas designed to provide dining, entertainment, and recreational services for passengers. Notably, the ship includes an art corridor adorned with murals in the Dunhuang style.
The Adora Magic City makes China the fifth country in the world capable of building large cruise ships, following Germany, France, Italy, and Finland. The vessel consists of over 25 million components, five times more than the C919 aircraft and thirteen times more than the Fuxing high-speed train.
