Hearing a hissing sound from the engine compartment, a man immediately opened the hood to check and discovered a king cobra lying inside.
Thaichai Kongnimit, 55 years old, parked his blue Nissan outside his home in Surat Thani Province, Thailand. The next morning, while driving to the market, he heard a chilling hiss coming from under the hood.
Concerned about a mechanical issue, Thaichai opened the hood to investigate. However, he was horrified to find a king cobra staring back at him, ready to strike.
Immediately, the father of three called for rescue services. The best snake catchers in the area were dispatched to capture the creature.
The captured king cobra is about 5 meters long.
In just two minutes, a snake catcher named Tanawat Num successfully captured the king cobra and placed it in a sack.
“The king cobra could have killed me. I opened the hood to look at the engine, and it was only about 30 cm from my face. It was about 5 meters long,” Thaichai recounted in horror.
The king cobra was later released by the snake expert into a natural habitat far away from populated areas.
