The moment a baby monkey was released back into the wild has “gone viral” and touched many netizens.
The clip was shared by Nigel Wright, a specialist working at the Umsizi Wildlife Rescue Center in South Africa, on his YouTube channel.
Nigel Wright stated that they discovered a one-year-old vervet monkey trapped and injured on its leg. The rescue experts saved this baby monkey, named Pearce, and cared for it until its injury fully healed.
After a complete recovery, baby monkey Pearce was released to return to its troop. The clip shared by Nigel Wright captured the moment Pearce quickly ran towards its waiting troop on the roof after being freed from the cage.

Noticing that Pearce was struggling to climb onto the roof, the mother monkey immediately rushed over to help pull Pearce up, followed by a heartwarming moment where the two embraced tightly. Another monkey also ran over to hug the mother and baby Pearce.
Once back in the embrace of its mother, Pearce clung tightly to her belly to be carried away.
“This is a beautiful moment that shows the meaningful family bond of vervet monkeys,” Nigel Wright shared.

According to scientists, monkeys are a diverse group of mammals that exhibit many behaviors similar to humans. All species of monkeys are intelligent creatures with high social behavior. Some species even use tools for hunting, fruit picking, or cracking the hard shells of various fruits.

Vervet monkeys (Chlorocebus pygerythrus) are a species that inhabit eastern and southern Africa, characterized by their black faces and gray fur. Their body length ranges from about 40 cm for females to approximately 50 cm for males, with an average weight of around 5.5 kg.
Another impressive feature of vervet monkeys is that male monkeys have blue testicles. This is the only mammalian species with this interesting characteristic.
Vervet monkeys live in troops of 10 to 70 individuals, primarily feeding on grass and leaves. Research indicates that vervet monkeys have their own ways of communicating or signaling when necessary. They also have the ability to recognize relatives and members of their troop.
