A Man Unexpectedly Discovers a Heavenly Treasure While Relaxing on His Porch.
Mr. Mahmut Sahin, who lives in the town of Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, was thrilled to learn from scientists that the stone that fell in his yard was incredibly valuable.
Last month, Mahmut and his wife were sitting on their porch enjoying coffee when they suddenly heard a loud explosion. They rushed outside to investigate and found a rock that had fallen from the sky, creating a hole in the ground. The hole was even emitting smoke.
They immediately called the fire department, suspecting a gas leak in their home. However, upon arrival, the firefighters determined that it was not due to gas or any chemical reaction. They speculated that the stone might be a meteorite.
The Mahmut family decided to test the stone with two magnets. They had heard that meteorites are magnetic, while ordinary rocks are not. If the stone attracted the magnets, it was likely a meteorite. To their surprise, the two magnets stuck firmly to the stone.
After some discussion, Mr. Mahmut contacted experts from the German Aerospace Center (DLR) for verification. After thorough examination, the experts confirmed that the stone was indeed a meteorite, estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. It likely traveled millions of miles through space to reach Earth.

After conducting a 3D scan, they concluded that the meteorite that fell on Mahmut’s home originated from the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It traveled several million kilometers to reach Earth.
They believe that the meteorite could have weighed over 100 kg when it was still in space, making it potentially the largest meteorite to have fallen in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. Previously, there have been a few meteorites that fell in this area.
When news of the Mahmut family’s discovery of a meteorite in their garden broke, many people expressed interest in purchasing it. Offers came from all over the world, and museums also reached out to display the meteorite. Some individuals even proposed to pay over 5 billion VND for ownership.
Mahmut and his family were overjoyed to receive this information. Mr. Mahmut compared the rare meteorite landing in his yard to winning a special lottery prize by chance.
