The R2000-720 tower crane rolled off the production line at the Zoomlion smart tower crane factory in Changde, Hunan Province, on April 20.
Marketed as the largest tower crane in the world, the R2000-720 incorporates 158 achievements in innovative scientific research and 305 patents, including over 60 core technologies and 12 pioneering technologies globally, Australian Associated Press reported on April 22.
The R2000-720 can lift 500 vehicles to a height of 130 floors with a torque of 20,000 ton-meters, a maximum lifting capacity of 720 tons, and a maximum lifting height of 400 meters. After delivery, the new crane will be used to construct the world’s largest cable-stayed bridge: the Yangtze River Ma’anshan Railway-Highway Bridge.
“The R2000-720 features innovations and breakthroughs in weight balancing, structure, intelligent control, and other technologies, addressing many challenges faced by large tower cranes when operating under complex conditions, such as strong winds, high humidity, and heavy loads. This means that it is not only the largest tower crane but also the strongest in the world,” a Zoomlion spokesperson stated.
This is the largest and strongest tower crane in the world.
The new tower crane utilizes Zoomlion’s pioneering mobile weight balancing technology for precise movement with lifting torque, enhancing lifting efficiency by over 60%. This equipment also employs a lightweight high-load-bearing structure, reducing the upper structure of the tower crane by more than 20% compared to traditional equipment, making transportation, installation, and dismantling easier.
Additionally, Zoomlion has made significant investments in smart control technology to enhance the crane’s flexibility. Experts have developed an advanced control system using 50 smart technologies to achieve response speeds measured in milliseconds.
Despite being the largest tower crane in the world, the R2000-720 has a relatively short delivery cycle, taking only 8 months from the design phase to production at the Zoomlion smart tower crane factory in Changde. Zoomlion achieved this through the application of intelligent manufacturing processes.
