A 32-Year-Old Man Uses a Drone to Capture Images of a Human-Shaped Town in Italy.
Pio Andrea Peri, a 32-year-old resident of Giardini Naxos, Sicily, came up with the idea of using a drone to photograph an area of the town that he discovered had a unique shape on Google Earth.
Pio Andrea Peri recorded the ancient village of Centuripe in Italy, revealing a strangely human-like shape. Aerial photos show four elongated areas radiating in different directions, resembling the outstretched arms and legs of a person.

After initially discovering the strange image on Google Earth, the 32-year-old man sought to travel to the ancient village to begin capturing photos.
Pio Andrea Peri stated: “It was a challenging shot. Due to the height limitations of the drone, I had to use multiple small segments to capture the entire scene.”
After sharing the video on social media, it attracted significant attention. Some viewers suggested that the landscape resembled a human figure, a five-pointed star, or a bird spreading its wings. However, some skeptics accused the photographer of being a fraud.
“Many people were astonished by the village’s unusual shape. Some didn’t believe it was real and thought I had digitally manipulated the photo. But once they verified it on Google Earth, many sent me apologies. I spent about two hours on post-production after completing the actual footage. I am very pleased with the result,” Pio Andrea Peri remarked.
The ancient village of Centuripe has around 5,000 residents and is located on a hill in the province of Enna, near Mount Etna. The village head contacted photographer Pio Andrea Peri to organize an exhibition of his stunning photos. The village sits at an elevation of over 730 meters above sea level, providing a defensive position between Catania and Enna.
The layout of the village dates back to the 16th century and was once famous for its picturesque narrow alleys. The village is divided into areas with winding staircases leading down to the valley. From the village, one can see the famous Mount Etna in the distance, along with expansive views of the surrounding countryside.
