Chased by a herd of about 100 African buffaloes, the lion quickly fled and climbed a tree to save its life.
Known as the “King of the Jungle”, the roar of a lion instills fear in any creature. However, there are instances where the lion is not the victor.
In the video, it is unclear why a lion was pursued by hundreds of African buffaloes. Terrified, the lion had to climb a tree to escape the chase.
Cornered, the lion had no choice but to remain still on a branch while attempting to assert its dominance with thunderous roars. Fortunately, the herd of buffaloes only lingered below for a while before leaving. It was only after the buffaloes disappeared that the lion dared to jump down and seek a safer hiding place.
Chased, the lion hurriedly climbs a tree.
With an adult weight ranging from 500 kg to 1 ton, African buffaloes are likened to sturdy tanks capable of tossing aside any foe with their sharp horns.
The horns of adult buffaloes are a defining characteristic of the species. Not only are they sharp, but they also form a bony shield on the buffalo’s head, providing additional safety when facing predators.
In the wild, African buffaloes have very few natural enemies, and in most cases, they are ready to engage and gore any opponent that stands in their way.
