Although the lion was well-fed, it still decided to tear apart the “brave” hyena.
The hyena paid with its life for daring to eye the lion’s meal. (Photo taken from the video).
A pride of Kambula lions attempted to steal food from a female Kambula lion. However, the hyenas caught wind of the food and gathered together to seek an opportunity. Soon after, one hyena was captured.
It was bitten in the throat by one female lion, rendering the hyena immobile, while another female lion began to tear into the victim’s abdomen. Ultimately, the hyena was killed by these two lions.
Hyenas are the second largest predators after lions and pose the most formidable challenge to lions. Therefore, lions typically kill hyenas to reduce competition rather than for food (especially when the lions have just enjoyed a hearty meal).
