A cinematographer in Vetroz, Switzerland, captured the moment Venus shone brightly before fading behind the Alps.
Cinematographer Kilpsi stated that the clip was filmed on April 3 and 4.
“Here, we see Venus setting behind a mountain in Switzerland.
It’s fascinating to observe how Venus gradually disappears. A star can vanish in an instant, but because Venus is relatively close to Earth, it doesn’t just appear as a point of light but rather as a disc, slowly disappearing behind the mountain range,” Kilpsi said.
Venus is the brightest planet in the Solar System after the Moon and the Sun. Compared to Earth, it is the first star to appear in the night sky and the last to vanish at dawn.
Venus is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. It was named after the most beautiful deity in the pantheon because it shines the brightest among the five planets known to ancient astronomers.
