Attacked by a herd of buffalo, a white lion named Casper had to retreat to a tree to save its life.
The clip was recorded by Mark Kingaby at the Kruger National Park in South Africa.
While touring the park, Mark Kingaby spotted the famous lion named Casper being surrounded by a herd of buffalo.
The lion stands on a tree, nervously looking down at the herd of buffalo below.
The footage shows that the “king of the jungle” had to abandon its resting spot on the grass to climb a tree when the herd of buffalo charged at it. In this desperate situation, the lion could only stand on the tree and nervously look down at the surrounding buffalo herd.
Mark stated: “I think the buffalo are paying attention to the lion because it is a threat. Buffalo are a tasty meal for lions. But facing such a large number, the lion would certainly not dare confront them.”
“Casper struggled for quite a while in the tree, waiting for the buffalo to disperse before finding a way to escape,” Mark added.
Kruger National Park is located in the northeastern part of South Africa and runs along the eastern border with Mozambique, the northern border with Zimbabwe, and the southern border is the Crocodile River. Covering nearly 2 million hectares, Kruger National Park is known as the largest wildlife reserve in South Africa.
