Image of a 15ft Python Wrapping Around a Power Pole Causes Panic
A 15ft (over 4.5m) reticulated python was chased away from a local resident’s home before it climbed a pine tree and crossed power lines to reach the top of a 32ft (over 9.7m) power pole in Sattahip, Thailand, on August 31.
The snake coiled around the cables and power pole, causing concern among locals and authorities due to the risk of electrocution and potential damage to the power lines. As a result, they decided to use a crane to remove the animal.
Suan Taeng Chankaew, a 56-year-old ice cream vendor, stated: “I called for help. I saw the python crossing from the base of the tree to the power pole. It climbed too high, and no one could reach it.”

Video footage shows the python attempting to slither away as rescue workers used a pole to pull it down from the cables. Ultimately, the python was captured and released back into the wild.
Reticulated pythons are found throughout Southeast Asia. They inhabit forests, swamps, canals, and even urban areas. This species is one of the largest snakes in the world and is capable of preying on humans, cats, dogs, birds, rodents, and other snakes.
