The fluffy female cat named Rosie has been confirmed to have passed away at the age of 33. Rosie lived with her owner, 74-year-old Lila Brissett, in their home in Norwich, Norfolk, England.
Rosie just turned 33 on June 1 and passed away at the age of 33, which is equivalent to 152 human years. Rosie and her owner, Mrs. Lila Brissett, shared many beautiful memories during their time together.
Rosie is a fluffy female cat with fur resembling a turtle shell.
Mrs. Lila adopted Rosie when she was still a kitten. Before her beloved cat’s passing, she tearfully remarked: “I miss her so much. She wasn’t well, and one day, she just walked into the hallway, lay down, and left forever,” according to SWNS.
Rosie loved to eat and sleep. The cat could often be found resting by the window in Mrs. Lila’s home.
In the 1990s, a cat rescue center contacted Lila to find a new home for Rosie. It was reported that Rosie’s first family realized their daughter was allergic to cats.
Rosie celebrated her 32nd birthday in 2023.
Lila, a widow, had previously rescued an abused cat and a stray dog, and she happily welcomed Rosie into her home.
Rosie’s mother was a gray Ragdoll cat, which gave Rosie her distinctive fluffy tail resembling that of a squirrel. Rosie’s father was believed to be an orange male cat.
Rosie lived in the ground-floor apartment with Mrs. Lila. Daily, she was fed Purina One cat food. “Otherwise, she would make a fuss,” Mrs. Lila recounted.
Mrs. Lila shared: “Rosie is a very special cat. She sleeps by the window all day. At the right time, she would wake up, eat a little, and go to the bathroom. No need for an alarm clock; all she does is eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, and repeat.”
As Rosie grew older, Mrs. Lila frequently had to check if her beloved cat was still breathing. She was very anxious about the day her cherished cat would leave forever, which left her feeling empty inside.

Born in 1991, Rosie was not officially recognized as the “oldest cat in the world.”
According to the Guinness World Records, the current oldest cat recognized in the world is Flossie, who is 27 years old. Flossie was born on December 29, 1995, and was officially recognized for the record in Orpington, Greater London, England, on November 10, 2022.
A spokesperson for the Guinness World Records encouraged Mrs. Lila to submit a licensing application for Rosie for their consideration last year. However, she never did.
