The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center, Institute of Geophysics reported that at 4:49:20 AM (GMT) on June 6, which is 11:49:20 AM (Hanoi time), an earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale struck at coordinates 21.842° N latitude, 104.851° E longitude, with an epicenter depth of approximately 12 km.
The earthquake occurred in Cam An Commune, Yen Binh District, Yen Bai Province, about 150 km from Hanoi.

Many residents in Cam An Commune reported hearing a loud explosion from underground, similar to a bomb, followed by shaking furniture, which alerted them to the earthquake.
Previously, on May 29, an earthquake measuring 3.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Muong Lai Commune, Luc Yen District, approximately 30 km from Cam An Commune. Experts explained that Yen Bai is located on the Chay River fault line, where earthquakes of magnitude 4.0 to 4.9 have occurred, with a maximum forecast of 5.1 to 5.5.
