A strong earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale shook the capital city of Jakarta, Indonesia, in the early afternoon of November 21.

The strong tremors were felt throughout Jakarta, causing widespread panic among the residents.
The earthquake struck at 1:21 PM local time on November 21, with its epicenter located 10 kilometers southwest of Cianjur district in West Java province, and at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency.
This earthquake is not expected to trigger a tsunami.
The intense shaking prompted people in Jakarta to immediately flee their homes and buildings.
The United States Geological Survey reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale.
According to Herman Suherman, the head of the Cianjur administration, approximately 20 people have died and at least 300 others have been injured as a result of the earthquake. Most injuries were due to broken bones from being trapped in the rubble of collapsed buildings.
