Toshiba has just introduced three models of MP3 players in the Gigabeat series with storage capacities that are “astonishing” for a digital music player.
Gigabeat X20, Gigabeat X30, and Gigabeat X60 feature mini hard drives with a diameter of 1.8 inches, offering storage capacities of 20, 30, and 60 GB respectively. All these MP3 models come equipped with a 2.4-inch QVGA color display. In addition to playing various types of digital music, Gigabeat players also have the ability to browse images similar to the iPod Photo. Users can select attractive images to set as wallpapers for their screens. The X20 and X30 models are available in three colors: silver, black, and pink, while the X60 is only available in black.
The X20 and X30 models will be released in Japan in the coming days, with launches in other markets scheduled for next month. The X60 model is also set to be available in Japan in November 2005. Pricing details are not yet clear.
