Sony’s New Desktop Computer Series Integrates a 20-Inch Xbrite LCD TV Screen
Sony has decided to integrate an LCD TV screen into its new Vaio VA TV-PC series. This set of devices will be available for sale this month, with the starting price at $1,999.
According to Sony, the Vaio VA TV-PC features an “all-in-one” design that includes a 20-inch Xbrite LCD screen paired with a sleek silver and black computer. It comes with an optical drive and a memory card reader located on the front of the screen. There is also an opening in the device that can accommodate an additional hard drive.
The VA TV-PC series comes pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 and Update Rollup 2, a 2.1 channel audio system, a dual-format DVD+R/DVD+/-RW drive, A/V and S-Video ports, multiple USB ports, ATI Radeon X700 graphics memory, and 802.11 b/g wireless connectivity technology.
According to Mike Abary, Vice President of VAIO Product Marketing at Sony in the U.S., the company continues to embrace the traditional “all-in-one” product design, allowing desktop computers to move away from the conventional boxy appearance. The VA computer is capable of delivering high-quality TV viewing, but … it remains a PC.
