According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, due to the influence of intensified cold air, the Northeast and North Central regions will experience light rain, drizzle, and fog scattered throughout the night and morning of February 28, with cold temperatures; specifically, the Northeast will experience severe cold, and mountainous areas may experience extreme cold.
The Northwest region will see scattered rain, with fog in some areas during the early morning. However, Lai Châu and Điện Biên will have sunny weather in the afternoon, with cold temperatures at night and in the morning.
The lowest temperatures in the plains are generally between 11-14 degrees Celsius, in the mountains from 8-11 degrees Celsius, and in high mountainous areas, they may drop below 7 degrees Celsius.
Today’s weather in Hanoi will include light rain, drizzle, and fog during the night and morning. Northeastern winds will be at level 2-3. It will be severely cold, with temperatures ranging from 12-18 degrees Celsius.

On February 29, the North will maintain weather with fog and drizzle in the morning, decreasing rain in the afternoon, and cold temperatures, although temperatures will increase by 2-3 degrees compared to today.
Forecasts indicate that from March 1-2, the North will receive another strong cold front, with temperatures in the North dropping significantly to severe cold levels (average daily temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius), and mountainous areas may experience extreme cold (average daily temperatures below 13 degrees Celsius) accompanied by increased light rain and drizzle, intensifying the feeling of chill.
During these two days, Hanoi will experience severe cold, with daily temperatures ranging from 13-16 degrees Celsius, mostly cloudy skies, and light rain.
The upcoming cold front in early March is considered quite rare, however, meteorological experts have noted that since 1991, there have been 13 instances of severe cold in the latter half of February, accounting for 40% frequency, so this year’s weather phenomenon is not unusual.
