To ensure optimal Covid-19 safety measures for air travel, Airbus has established a “quarantine tent” right in the aircraft cabin.
CNN reports that even with masks, negative test certificates, full vaccinations, and temperature checks at airports, there remains a possibility that passengers may develop symptoms of Covid-19 during a flight.

Therefore, Airbus has created the PaxCASE—a semi-transparent plastic enclosure surrounding passengers suspected of having Covid-19.
Mr. Ingo Wuggetzer, head of cabin marketing at Airbus, shared with CNN that the PaxCASE is designed to remain in a fixed position or can be moved to the necessary location and is shaped by being attached to the aircraft ceiling.
The PaxCASE creates a barrier around a row of three seats. Mr. Wuggetzer stated: “It’s very simple, based on an easy principle, applicable in emergency situations.”
In 2021, the PaxCASE was nominated for the Safe and Clean Air Travel category in the Crystal Cabin Awards.
In the spring of 2020, the global spread of Covid-19 caused the aviation industry to freeze. This led to many ideas being formed to change cabin designs to ensure safety.
Mr. Wuggetzer shared: “We proposed over 2,000 ideas.” Then, representatives from Airbus discussed the most highly rated ideas with airlines, including the PaxCASE.
Although the PaxCASE may impress the judges of the Crystal Cabin Awards, airlines have not yet shown much interest in this device.
