In a panic while being chased, a male deer hurriedly jumped over a pride of lions to break through the encirclement, but it failed.
This incredible scene was captured by Hannes Beeslar, a teacher from Nelspruit, South Africa, during a visit to Kruger National Park.
Specifically, while being pursued, the young deer attempted to leap over a group of lions blocking the road to escape but was unsuccessful. The lions quickly seized the opportunity, pouncing on the deer and bringing it down to the ground.
Despite struggling to break free, the young deer ultimately succumbed to the encirclement of four lionesses.
“We were driving along the H4-1 road between the Lower Sabie and Skukuza areas when a pride of lions suddenly emerged from the bushes and walked onto the road. Two lions then moved towards the bushes and began chasing the male deer towards the others.
At that moment, the deer jumped across the road and directly into the pride of lions. It was a quick and easy meal for them,” Beeslar recounted.
