As part of its efforts to develop “self-healing” technology, IBM has recently unveiled new data center software capable of automatically detecting and correcting performance issues.
The new data center software was announced by IBM on December 1, developed by the Tivoli division of the company focused on research and development.
One of the new software solutions is IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1, an upgraded version designed for servers that supplements critical systems such as mail servers or online payment systems that become overloaded.
Meanwhile, the IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager is also capable of identifying and resolving network bottlenecks. This program primarily focuses on addressing issues within critical systems that connect multiple applications over the Internet.
Finally, Tivoli Systems Automation for Multiplatforms is designed to troubleshoot issues such as power outages or other malfunctions without compromising stored data.
Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 is priced starting at $700 (per processor); the Composite Application Manager is priced at $5,000; and System Administration for Multiplatforms is available for $1,100.
According to IBM’s announcement, the company has integrated over 475 “self-healing” features into 75 different product lines since this initiative was proposed and implemented in 2001.
