The Japanese smart eyewear company Vixion has invented an innovative type of glasses that can help wearers overcome both myopia and hyperopia.
Whether it is myopia or hyperopia, individuals suffering from either of these eye conditions face significant challenges in their daily lives. As they age, many even confront symptoms of both conditions, making it difficult to see objects clearly at both close and far distances. The only way to address this issue has traditionally been to use two pairs of glasses—one for close vision and another for clearer distant vision. However, owning two pairs of glasses is not only costly but also cumbersome. Wearers must carry both pairs with them at all times and switch between them as needed. Fortunately, a Japanese company has developed a promising smart eyewear solution to tackle these inconveniences.

The MWF glasses from Vixion, a startup specializing in smart eyewear, recently made an appearance on Japanese television and attracted widespread attention. In the context of a rapidly aging population, the number of Japanese people suffering from both myopia and hyperopia has also increased.
Essentially, the MWF glasses operate on integrated sensors that can automatically adjust the focal point of the lenses according to what the wearer is observing, allowing them to see objects clearly at nearly any distance. First-time wearers of the MWF glasses will need to manually calibrate the glasses by turning a dial integrated into the frame. Once completed, the glasses can automatically detect what the wearer is looking at and adjust the lens focus accordingly whenever they change their line of sight.
A Japanese reporter recently tested the MWF glasses. She stated that the glasses could detect the direction of gaze and adjust the lens focus, making everything clearer whether near or far.
Many people are excited about this promising prototype of smart glasses from Vixion. However, they will have to wait a while longer until the company launches the commercial version, as the MWF is still in the testing phase.
