Thanks to the timely rescue from its pride, an adult lioness escaped an attack by a pack of hyenas. The clip was recorded by a tourist at Kruger National Park, South Africa.
Specifically, an adult lioness was surrounded and relentlessly attacked by dozens of hyenas. Being alone, the lioness could only helplessly defend herself.
Surprisingly, just as she was about to become a meal for the hyena pack, fortune smiled upon the lioness when members of her pride heard her cries and quickly rushed to her rescue. Despite having a numerical advantage, the hyenas had to flee as they could not match the strength of the lioness.

Hyenas are perhaps one of the most despised animals in the world due to their cold-blooded and extremely ruthless nature. When hunger strikes, hyenas will not hesitate to attack and eat their own kind.
In Africa, hyenas often clash with lions, usually when they eye a lion’s kill. However, these encounters rarely result in fatalities as hyenas typically steal prey in packs when lions are vulnerable and rescue members of their group under attack. Lions generally only attack to protect their food.
With their greed, recklessness, sharp teeth, and pack mentality, hyenas can overpower and kill lions when they have a numerical advantage or when a lion is isolated, old, or injured.
Moreover, even when alone, hyenas enjoy provoking and stealing kills from cheetahs, as cheetahs, being slender and smaller, often flee whenever an adult hyena approaches.
