The lioness displays incredible aggression, roaring continuously and slapping her opponent repeatedly.
The moment of conflict between the two lions was captured by photographer Zubin Ashara in the Gir Forest of Gujarat, India.

It is known that the scuffle took place right on the trail in the forest. After a while of fighting, the lioness became calmer. She sat down on the path and allowed the male to pass by.
Asiatic lions (Panthera leo leo) are native to the Gir National Park in Gujarat, India. They are slightly smaller than their African relatives and are characterized by a large tuft of tail and a fold of skin along their bellies.
In the wild, they typically live for 16-18 years, with adult males weighing between 135-230 kg. Females and cubs often live in groups, while male lions leave their mothers around three years old to wander until they establish their own territory.
Within the pride, females are the primary hunters. They usually hunt at night, targeting prey such as deer, buffalo, wild boar, and various other animals.
This predatory species has been classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) since 2000.
