An old photograph taken in 1943 in Reykjavík, Iceland, has led many to speculate that there may have been a time traveler present at that time.
Social media detectives have uncovered a quirky-looking man in a black and white photo from the 1940s, where he seems to be using a device that appears too advanced for that decade.
The mystery begins with this 1943 photograph taken in Reykjavík, Iceland, where the suspicious figure is seen among American soldiers deployed during World War II, according to The Sun.
However, this man is not wearing military uniform. Instead, he stands out dressed in a bright coat while raising his hand to his ear like a modern-day mobile phone user.
The man raises his hand near his ear like a modern-day mobile phone user.
It didn’t take long for social media to express their thoughts, claiming that the man must be a time traveler. Online “detectives” also believe they have spotted a time traveler in this old photograph.
The photograph was first posted on the Facebook group Gamlar ljósmyndir by user Kristjan Hoffmann in 2016, captioned: “One thing that catches attention in this beautiful photo is that above the window, in the middle corner of the image, a man is leaning and using a mobile phone.”
“I don’t know what to say, I don’t think he is just talking on the phone… He looks stunned, standing alone, wearing a hat different from the others, with the same scarf, and acting like we would today,” Hoffmann added.
In addition to appearing on Facebook, this photograph was later featured in a conspiracy video on YouTube titled “10 Unexplained Real Cases of Time Travel.”
However, rather than supporting the time travel hypothesis, those with a more level-headed philosophy in the Facebook group argue that he is merely checking to see if his watch is working.
Others suggest that he is simply using a pipe and was scratching his ear when the photo was taken.
