Recognizing that it was no match for the lions, the cobra quickly retreated, leaving its prey to face the situation alone.
This surprising scene was captured by Daniel Anthony, a guide working at the Sabi Sands Nature Reserve in South Africa.
Two lions facing a cobra in the middle of the road.
In the clip, two lions stand face-to-face with a cobra in the middle of the road. Naturally, the lions do not recklessly attack the venomous snake. Meanwhile, the cobra also realizes it is no match for the two lions and quickly slithers into the bushes by the roadside.
Daniel stated: “At first, we did not realize that the cobra was hunting a lizard hiding in the bushes by the road. The cobra then had to choose between sacrificing its meal or potentially becoming a meal itself.”
“The snake chose the first option and darted into the safety of the bushes. Meanwhile, the lizard had to confront death.”
Surprisingly, instead of fleeing, the lizard chose to stay and face the lions. At this moment, a single swipe from a lion could have meant its demise. Fortunately, it managed to escape and slithered safely into the bushes.
“In the end, all three were unharmed. The lizard was definitely the luckiest of them all,” Daniel added.
