According to the plan, the general election in the UK will take place on July 4, where voters across the country will elect representatives for their respective constituencies. This year’s general election is particularly unique, as residents in the Brighton area will have the option to vote for a “virtual” candidate – AI Steve for the first time.

AI Steve is essentially an image generated by artificial intelligence (AI), based on entrepreneur Steve Endacott. AI Steve was designed by Endacott’s own company, Neural Voice. This name will also appear on the ballot.
Mr. Endacott is an independent candidate running in the Brighton Pavilion constituency, a coastal town in southern England. He will directly participate in meetings and parliamentary sessions. However, this entrepreneur has stated that he will only serve as a facilitator while AI Steve will make policy decisions.
Accordingly, the “lawmaker” AI Steve will interact in real-time with local residents on various topics, from housing issues to waste collection and immigration, as well as brainstorming policy ideas before consulting the public.
Despite the novelty and advanced technology attracting attention, many voters are skeptical about voting for an AI candidate. Many feel that AI cannot effectively represent their interests in parliament.
The UK Electoral Commission has clarified that if elected, Mr. Endacott will have to participate in parliament directly and not through any AI version of himself.
