Researchers at the University of Hong Kong (China) have created a robot that resembles slime (a toy for children). Adults might find it reminiscent of the terrifying character Venom from the film of the same name.
The soft robot is designed to be inserted into the human body to perform medical tasks. (Illustration: Mashable).
In reality, it is a magnetic elastic slime. When an external magnetic force is applied, it moves and changes shape accordingly.
This type of robot is designed to be inserted into the human body to perform medical tasks, such as retrieving an object that has been swallowed.
Currently, the soft robot cannot operate independently (it still requires external magnetic force). Researchers do not have plans to test the soft robot on human bodies yet.
We can create this soft robot ourselves by mixing poly (also known as PVA plastic – a type of water-soluble synthetic polymer made from vinyl acetate), borax, and magnetic particles.
